Pompey have made bids for Czech Republic stars Patrik Berger and Milan Baros according to Pavel Paska, their agent.
Paska has revealed that Pompey have made a bid for Baros who looks more likely to leave Lyon now that Fred will probably stay with the French Champions. The 26-year-old may want to move back to the Premier League to prove himself after a mediocre spell at Aston Villa.
There's no denying that Baros is a quality player, but he is also one of the most frustrating players I have ever watched. His work-rate isn't particularly high and he has the ability to miss chances even you and I could score.
Still, under the right management he still has the potential to be a lethal player and I think if Harry can get the best out of him then he'd be a great signing.
The link to Berger is the more baffling of the two....
We all know what Patrik can do and we saw him produce some superb skill and score great goals during his time at Fratton Park. The problem was that he didn't produce it often enough, especially during the end of the 04/05 season.
Since his move to Villa his career has been plagued with injuries and at 34-years-old he probably doesn't have long left before he retires. Whether Harry could give him one last boost is debateable but I would be very surprised if this move actually happened.
Paska has said that Martin O'Neill isn't keen on releasing Berger but the two parties will "continue in talks" so it'll be interesting to see how these links develop.
