Pompey recorded an emphatic 4-1 win over Bournemouth as Peter Crouch scored twice in between goals from Sulley Muntari and Jermain Defoe.
Harry Redknapp fielded a strong side at Dean Court as Crouch and Defoe played together up front for the first time but Bournemouth were struggling so badly to field a recognisable side that they were forced to play Lee Bradbury at right back.
Pompey started poorly as old boy Darren Anderton was impressive for Kevin Bond's side but Sulley Muntari put Pompey ahead midway through the first half. There was some bad news though as Glen Little went off with a thigh injury but Pompey led at half-time.
Peter Crouch then scored his first goal back in a Pompey shirt right at the start of the second half and then grabbed a second goal minutes later from a Pedro Mendes cross.
Jermain Defoe, who had missed a couple of good chances earlier on, combined well with Crouch to score his third goal of pre-season but Bournemouth were rewarded for their endeavour after Sol Campbell was caught out and Bret Pittman lobbed Jamie Ashdown.
Harry gave some of the youngsters a run out as the game petered out and ended 4-1 to Pompey. Another Pompey XI including David James and trialist OJ were held to a 1-1 draw in Dorchester with the Pompey goal coming from an own goal.
