Conor Chaplin has signed a new three-year deal with Portsmouth, potentially keeping him at the club until 2018.
The 19-year-old has broken into the first team this season and is currently Pompey's top scorer with four goals in all competitions which includes two against Championship opposition.
A natural finisher and someone who can pull defenders out of position with his movement, Conor is obviously a very talented young player and supposedly there are scouts from Premier League clubs looking at him already.
So even if Chaplin doesn't stay for three years, he should bank Pompey a tidy sum of money for his services if he were to move on in the future. Of course, the faster that Portsmouth can get back to the Championship, the more likely he would be to stay as he improves his game further.
For now, it's good to have someone at the club who seems to be down-to-earth and reluctant to get carried away despite his youth.
