Balram Chainrai has officially been announced as the new chairman of Portsmouth FC.
Chainrai will attend his first match as official chairman of the club when Pompey host QPR on Tuesday, November 9th and will be joined by Levi Kushnir, who was also in the running to become the new chairman.
This news comes as no surprise and in reality, doesn't really make any difference to the running of the club. I'm sure Balu is sensible enough to realise that all football matters should be dealt with by David Lampitt and the "restructuring" of the club was always going to be down to him anyway.
Let's just hope he can deliver on some of the things he has said and ends up being a little more popular with the fans than some of our previous chairmen. Given how unpopular some of them have been, I don't think that will be too difficult despite some fans' attitudes towards him.
In other news, Aaron Mokoena has signed a new two-and-a-half year contract with Pompey, taking his new contract to the end of the 2012/2013 season.
I wonder if his new contract is in keeping with Andrew Andronikou's supposed "£10,000-a-week" wage structure, even if it has already been broken a couple of times already!
