Carl Baker has signed a two-year deal with Portsmouth after being released by Milton Keynes Dons at the end of the season.
The 33-year-old was rumoured to be joining Pompey a couple of weeks ago after a move to former club Coventry didn't materialise. He is a player very much in the Gary Roberts mould and scored five goals from midfield in the Championship last season.
He was MK Dons' player of the 2014/2015 season when they finished second in League One with fans from both Milton Keynes and Coventry singing his praises.
On the face of it, Baker is a quality addition to the squad and should score his fair share of goals at Fratton Park. The only real worry is that at 33, his legs will tire that little bit more and therefore makes him more vulnerable to injuries over the course of the season.
Carl is the third signing of the summer so far with Danny Rose joining from Northampton and Matt Clarke being recruited permanently. Who will be next?
