Pompey 3rd choice goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown has left the club on loan to Norwich City.
The Championship side currently lie in 16th place in the table with 15 points from 12 games. Ashdown had recently expressed his discontent about not being involved in the Pompey first team this season with Dean Kiely and David James ahead of him in the goalkeeping pecking order at Fratton Park.
Ashdown joins the Canaries on a months loan ahead of their fixture against Cardiff City. Competition for places at Carrow Road will now be heated with Paul Gallacher and Lee Camp already at the club. Although most would expect Ashdown to be put straight into the first team.
Ashdown is the first new signing for the new Norwich manager Peter Grant and I'm sure that he will be kept busy considering that the porous Canaries defence has conceded 17 goals in 6 league games prior to their midweek win over Birmingham.
