Bolton were on top early on as Javi Moreno squandered a couple of good, early chances and Shaka Hislop had to save well from Ivan Campo.
Come the second half, however, Hislop allowed Kevin Davies' shot slide underneath his body for as weak a goal as you'll see this season. Although the soon to be departed Yakubu came close five minutes later, Pompey never really recovered from this suckerpunch and Bolton ran out 1-0 victors.
Harry Redknapp was angriest over the injury time incident which saw Dejan Stefanovic recieve his marching orders - he appeared to make physical contact with ref Phil Dowd, although the official line is he was sent off for abusive language.
This did not sit well with the manager who fumed: "I could do without that as I have no squad as it is. I have got injuries and suspensions galore.
"To get a player sent off in the last minute of the game for swearing at the referee is absolute nonsense.
"I judge every red card on their merits and I certainly won't stand for someone swearing at the referee."
