A Tale of Finishing

There's not really too much to say about the game tonight. United made the game comfortable before the break after making the most of their chances. Any half chances we created in the first half were not made the most of as too many balls were being wasted, D'Alessandro was completely anonymous again, the defence tried hard but were outclassed when it mattered even if United didn't create many chances though nothing could be done about Christiano Ronaldo's first goal.

Lua Lua played well on his return but I thought personally the man of the match was Mendes. Interesting how when the Fratton End chanted "Gary O'Neil, centre midfield" Davis gets subbed off and on comes Andy Griffin so O'Neil can move into the centre. Did we improve with that sub? Maybe, but I think the introduction of Routledge also helped but the issue is the crowd possibly managing the team? We shall see.. We were deserving of our goal late on but it was too little, too late as we rarely threatned the United goal directly despite the huge amount of shots and corners we had.

Eight points adrift still and we'll need a miracle to get anything from Chelsea. It is looking bleak but we can't give up. The players never gave up and got their reward and the atmosphere today was excellent. If there is such thing as a god. I hope he's a Pompey fan!
