The fun all starts again on Saturday, 14th August, as Portsmouth entertain ambitious Birmingham, with new signing Emile Heskey in tow, on the opening day of the season. A tough start to the season is ensured, as Portsmouth go mid-table crazy with a trip to Charlton Athletic on Saturday 21st their first away game, followed by a midweek match at Liverpool (Wednesday 25th), and a home game against Fulham on the 28th rounding off August.
Who can say for sure where Portsmouth will finish, but if there are still matters undecided on the final game of the season, then Portsmouth will have to get something from a trip to newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion on the season's final day on the 14th May, 2005. The final home game, on the 7th, sees Portsmouth host Bolton Wanderers.
And the fixtures all Portsmouth and Southampton fans will be combing their fixtures lists for...the south coast derby. Southampton will host Portsmouth on the 13th November 2004 at St Marys (subject to Sky picking it up, of course), whilst the return fixture at Fratton Park is the penultimate home fixture of the season, tentitively scheduled for 23rd April, 2005.
