The Manager: Kenny Jackett
Jackett's playing career at Watford was cut short at the age of 28 due to a knee injury but he stayed on at Vicarage Road and became manager in 1996 but a poor season saw him demoted to assistant manager until he was forced out by Gianluca Vialli in 2001.
Kenny spent time by Ian Holloway's side as QPR gained promotion from Division Two but then got the top job at Swansea in 2004 where he guided them to League One before leaving for Millwall.
Another promotion, this time from League One, saw Millwall reach the Championship and finish ninth last season. Jackett's stock is rising and he may well be coveted by bigger clubs in the future.
The Fans
It's no secret that Millwall fans have a reputation for hooliganism and their past scraps with Pompey are well documented. Even this season gone there were murmurs of conflicts when Pompey went to Doncaster and Millwall were at Sheffield although this is nothing in comparison to the scenes at Millwall's matches with West Ham.
Despite the history of violence, there does seem to be a mutual respect between Portsmouth and Millwall fans. They are a passionate fanbase who have created a siege mentality for their club but were dubiously quiet when Pompey were at The Den last season.
The most famous Millwall fans are actors Daniel Day Lewis and Tamer Hassan, DJ and comedian Danny Baker and boxing promoter Frank Maloney.
The Ground: The Den (Capacity: 20,100)
Supposedly one of English football's more intimidating grounds, coaches are driven all the way round a rough industrial area to reach the away end whilst fans arriving by train will have to walk down a long barricaded walkway, nicknamed "cowards way", with plenty of police patrolling the area.
The (New) Den is a fairly basic ground made up of four stands with the corners of the ground open apart from one which has a video scoreboard. Pompey fans are housed in the North Stand where the Cold Blow Lane end lies opposite.
To the left is the East Stand, where a Millwall supporter wearing a trenchcoat and bright shorts was ejected last season just for swearing at us.
To the right is the West Stand. There's nothing different about it.
And who's this texting in the away end!?
